Tempe voters approve four bond questions November 5, 2008

Tempe, Arizona – Tempe voters approved four bond questions in Tuesday’s election, giving the city approval to sell bonds to fund capital improvement projects aimed at improving parks, water treatment, streets and public safety services.

With 42,659 ballots cast, including 19,865 early ballots, there was a 54 percent voter turnout in Tempe. There are 79,404 registered voters in the city.

Question 1: Water and Sewer Improvements
71.97 percent for the bonds (30,702 votes)
28.03 percent against the bonds (11,957 votes)

Question 2: Street Improvements/Storm Drains
71.17 percent for the bonds (30,309 votes)
28.83 percent against the bonds (12,276 votes)

Question 3: Public Safety
70.87 percent for the bonds (30,151 votes)
29.13 percent against the bonds (12,395 votes)

Question 4: Park Improvements/Community Services
66.63 percent for the bonds (28,236 votes)
33.37 percent against the bonds (14,140 votes)
